Vocational Diagnostics, Inc. (VDI) was retained by Plaintiff’s counsel at James Wood Law in a medical malpractice case involving a delayed diagnosis that ultimately resulted in a catastrophic injury. Michele Albers, M.S., L.P.C., C.R.C., C.L.C.P., provided expert analysis on the Plaintiff’s earning capacity and future care needs.
The case stemmed from an emergency room visit in 2017 when the Plaintiff presented with right leg pain. Despite concerning symptoms including significant swelling, drainage, and blistering, treatment was delayed. By the following morning, his condition had worsened, requiring an urgent surgical intervention. A below-knee amputation was initially planned; however, due to the severity of the infection, the procedure resulted in an above-knee amputation. The final diagnosis was necrotizing fasciitis.
Ms. Albers conducted an Earning Capacity Evaluation and developed a comprehensive Life Care Plan to outline the Plaintiff’s long-term medical needs and potential vocational outcomes. Over the course of the case, Ms. Albers updated her report to reflect the most current circumstances, gave two depositions, and was prepared to testify at trial. The case ultimately settled before reaching the courtroom.
Our retaining attorney shared the good news in a heartfelt statement to our team: “After a long process, we are grateful to have resolved the matter favorably. Thank you for your invaluable contribution throughout this case. Your expertise, accessibility, and insight were instrumental in the result and we truly appreciate the time and effort you dedicated to the client’s case.”
