Aubrey Corwin, M.S., L.P.C., C.R.C., C.L.C.P. was retained by Plaintiff’s counsel to provide a Life Care Plan for Ms. Barnes, a 70-year-old woman who sustained injuries from two slip-and-fall incidents at her townhome association. The first fall resulted in a head injury, with a physician recommending Botox for treatment of post-concussive migraines for the remainder of her life. The second fall, which led to a compound tibia-fibula fracture, significantly impacted her mobility. Following the second fall, Ms. Barnes could no longer safely navigate the stairs in her two-story townhome and was forced to relocate to an apartment complex with an elevator in Loveland, CO. At the time of case preparation, she was still undergoing treatment for both injuries. She had undergone three leg surgeries and continued to experience uncontrolled nerve pain. Ms. Corwin and the VDI team worked in conjunction with Plaintiff’s treating physicians and the Plaintiff-retained medical experts to accurately and comprehensively project her future medical care needs and all of their associated costs.
The case reached a settlement with all Defendants, including the past and present snow removal companies, the HOA, and the property management company. Due to a confidentiality agreement, specific settlement details were not disclosed. However, the retaining attorney conveyed that the work provided by Ms. Corwin was highly beneficial. Given the challenges of proving liability in a slip-and-fall case, Plaintiffs were pleased with the outcome. The attorney expressed her gratitude and a strong interest in working with Ms. Corwin again and recommending VDI for future cases.
